about the reg, i got one few days ago in the mail, grahf recommended it to me and it works fine so far, but i think it is giving me some of that wavy line syndrome that was fixed by an inductor in the other dc-dc converters

Ah yes, regulaters. I rember shorting them out, then burning people with them in yr 9 electronics. Mosfets work well too.
