SJIII No longer Available.

The site excapes me, but I've recently ordered a SJIII and got sent the wireless version instead. I've yet to crack it open, but when I finally got an email back, they told me that the 'complimentary' upgrade was to substitute the no longer available wired one. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet.
The linux fan in me loves the penguin... but I'm a little miffed. It also came with an unlabeled famicom cart... so the games may not be built in to this one.
More after the break, or feel free to add in here. I'm just a little angry with myself and this recent project, so I'm taking a break (lol, it only gets an hour or two a month anyhow.

I wouldn't be too upset if they were out of production. They're some of the worst-built clones on the market. Unquestionably the worst I've ever owned.

Thats the same clone I got when I ordered one.

This is where I ordered from, I got the cheapest one listed of course (70 games version)

But this is what I ended up with.

It would really bite if you can't order wired versions anymore. I don't much care for wireless anything, and the cartridge having to be plugged in also takes a bit of diversity out of this product. Anybody find a site that sells the original WIRED super joy 3?

(btw, I got 2 pirate cartidges with mine! One black, one white. The black one has a messed up version of super mario where everything is 2x as fast as normal. The other one has normal speed mario, and the about the same games as the other one, with a few different ones tossed in here and there, such as Contra, the black has contra 1, and the white has Contra 2. Why they saw fit to give me two, I dunno, kinda cool though.)

That's odd. I was just in Oklahoma and saw a stand that had about 30 SJIII's for sale. Couldn't pick one up, though. I spent all of my money on fireworks.

Not really. The whole setup is garbage. And there are no built on games, so you can't fit this with a screen and just make an instant NESp out of it. You HAVE to have a cartridge slot to play the games.

The wireless controler sucks too. Heavy from 3 AA's, and if you get the LED out of line-of-sight, then your buttons presses wont get recieved. So if you say, slowly lower it to point at the ground (and you will, since its heavy) you will stop moving. And in games such as contra, one button miss, and you DIE. No good.

The lightgun isn't even wireless either. That would have been pretty sweet, but no. YOu have to plug it in, and the cord is only a few feet long. It pretty much forces you to cheat, since you must remain close to the TV or pull the penguin off the shelf. Ridiculous.

Bioniclebert, does that unit have a cart slot? I would like to get one if it does.
