Audio into my VCC

I just got a video capture card, and after I installed it I was hooking up my video camera and noticed something strange. My video camera had a stereo jack output but my video capture card only had a headphone jack for the audio in! What should I do? Should I switch and use a s-video cable?

I'm assuming the "stereo" jack you speak of probably outputs composite video and then right and left channel sound (or something like that.) Most video cameras that do this come with an adapter to allow you to connect the camera to your TV or other devices. Use this adapter. If your video capture card only has S-Video in, you may have to get an adapter that will convert the composite video to S-Video.

Let me straiten everything out. My video camera has a composite video out and 2 audio jacks as well as s-video out. My video capture card has a composite video and a headphone type jack for audio in as well as a s-video in jack. Are you saying I need some adapter for my video capture card so I can plug in my audio jacks (red and white, left and right)? Couldn't I just buy a s-video cable and use that instead?

S-video is just the video signal broken up so that it looks better. You would still need the audio cable, but s-video will look better. You can either buy or make the cable you need.

so I need a cable to convert that headphone like plug to A/V style jacks? Where can I buy one of these adapters? The video capture card I bought was too cheap to include one
