Any Guitar Heroes out there?

Post by jones »

I just picked this up yesterday for the 360 and I must say it's a blast!

I never had the chance to play either of the Guitar Hero games on PS2, but figured I would give this one a shot. It had some songs that I like and thought it would be neat to try since I've never really had the chance to play guitar (I know it's not the same as playing for real, but you probably catch my drift :D ).

I think it's a neat way of finding songs you've never heard of (Life Wasted by Pearl Jam and Possum kingdon by The Toadies come to mind) as well as giving you a different perspective on songs you've heard a million times (You Really Got Me by Van Halen, Message in a Bottle by The Police, etc.). It definitely gives one a renewed appreciation for the skill one must possess to play guitar at that level.

I was wondering how many of you have played any of the versions of the game and what your thoughts are. Just after playing it last night for a little while I can see how it could be very addicting. Heck, my wife was playing it until after midnight last night!

I played it one time, I just couldn't get my fingers rapped around the controller comfortably. So back to beat2x I went.

WOOOOOOOOOooooooo!!

(hes a guitar Herooooo!!!!!!)

Yes it is a very addicting game. :D

I am pretty decent at the game. I have all the songs beat on Expert except dam freebird  . I did beat GH1 all the way through tho.

I think i have 14 or so 5 starred tho. My personal favorite is Sweet Child. I can almost play the intro with my eyes closes.

I've never played it myself, but I've seen it played. I personally wouldn't buy it or recommend it from what I've seen. I'd rather spend time learning how to play a real guitar (I'm not, though) than a fake plastic one.
If I'm gonna waste my life on a game, its gotta be doing stuff I can't do in real life, like bashing in grunts' faces and commanding huge armies.

It is a fantastic game. My friend bought the first one and we all laughed at him at first, but we all quickly got addicted to it. Guess no one's laughing now!

You have to play it to realize how fun it is ;).

I've beaten both games on Expert, and am pretty good at it....they're certainly REALLY fun games :D.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

I'm actually considering the purchase of a second guitar since my wife seems to be addicted to it already. It may be the only way I get to play it for real (since apparently you can play with the regular controller, but that's just not the same).

I would agree with Gamelver's comment that you have to play it to understand how much fun it is. I was admittedly skeptical, but thought I'd take the dive anyway. And I'm glad I did!

Hopefully they will add online play at some point. Perhaps through an update via Xbox Live or in the next Guitar Hero release. I think that would be pretty wild although I imagine lag could be quite the issue with this particular game since timing is so critical. Maybe that's why they didn't incorporate it into this release.

I'm looking forward to playing some STP and Rekarp's nemesis Freebird  before too long. Should be a good time! :D

YEA, I got it too, and am right now up to the 4th tier of songs. I can't stop playing and making the sickest rock faces! I was surprised to find more than I expected at the Best Buy I went too, but then again this isn't the rock age anymore :P . Ah, this game is too addicting.

I got addicted to the original in EB games...they had it out to try and one day I picked up the guitar and started playing....took a few tries to get it, but after that I was hooked :D! It was sold out everywhere but some obscure store, so I picked it up as soon as I could and played late into the night :D.

The second one is definitely harder, though. Still, great fun ;)....if you like music at all, or just having a fun time, pick up the game.

I'm rather addicted to the game, and I can say with confidence, I'm pretty good at it :P

Here are a few pictures I took when my friends claimed I was lying about getting 5 stars on expert

Heart-Shaped Box
Message In A Bottle
Carry On Wayward Son
Them Bones
Girlfriend
John The Fisherman
Sweet Child O Mine(trying to get 100% is hard :? )

Like I said, kind of addicted...

A friend of mine got the PS2 version ans a second controller for Christmas. It took one night playing it in between rounds of Halo to get me hooked. I preordered the 360 version, and have been playing since it came yesterday. It takes a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it it rocks! :)

There are a lot of songs on GH2 that I learned to play before the game came out (Heart Shaped Box, Sweet Child of Mine), and it is fun to see how well they translate into the game. It's obvously hard to get songs with only 5 frets, but some come out really well.
