Since when is Half-Life open source? For open source any thing, sourceforge's the place, but I doubt they'll have Half-Life.

wrong on both counts! valve has never released source code for either game, the source code for the hl2 beta was stolen at one point tho, the actual game engines themselves are closed but everything else is free to modify (hammer editor etc, mods like garrys mod and whatnot)

I thought so, open source usually means free. Easy modification doesn't mean a program is open source.

they have the code release for quake, quake2, and quake3.

I want to hack it quake to make it into a game called "quake (or doom, I have to think about it) wars: the hamburglar chronicles." where your a cop, and you go through very rough terrain, hell, strip joints, ghettos, etc; to get to mcdonalds and go in the play place. you go to the purple tubes (these tubes are cave-like and stretch out for miles.) and find the hamburglar. he has a chainsaw and BFG and attacks you
