I loved these games. There used to be really good Shadowrun ones back in the day. Maybe when I'm really good at flash, I'll make a text adventure as one of my games. :D

rambo doesn't look like freeware. it looks more like it's-stolen-but-nobody-told-us-to-take-it-down-ware. Seriously I don't know how that place stays online.

I liked planetfall, bureaucracy and ballyhoo myself.
there was also a good one called 'slave' that came on a disk with Analog Computing back when I was a kid.

I meant abandonware.

The only text-adventure I've played much at all is "Punkwest" for TI-83+/84+. And in that one, "The punk police find you and shoot 100 rounds into your nuts." unless you fight a hobo.

I remember playing in "Hyperstacks" or something on my old Mac clone. That was a long time ago, probably around OS 7.5, maybe 8. It was basically a text-adventure making tool (granted, it was used for much more than that). You could download and play zillions of text based games.

EDIT: Oh yeah, of course there's Dope Wars. I play that all the time on my cell phone, so damn addicting. It's been ported to every platform, although I think it originated in DOS.
