Weird Cord!

Okay, today I found a cord in my house. Its fully black. On one end, it has a A/V (Or RCA) male (Color = black). On the other end it has a connector that looks like this.

Whats is this connector? and Whats is it for?

Also, my AptonBook XL has a weird female connector on it. (It has 2 of these)

What are these? and what are they used for?

Okay, how do I use this? Like, what is S-Video for?

And do I plug the RCA jack into the TV or into the game system?

S-video is a lot like composite video but it sucks a lot less!

Composite blends together the luma (black and white brightness) and color (duh) signals into one wire. They intefere with each other and produce a relatively bad picture. (Dot crawl and color bleeding are prominent.)

S-video keeps luma and chroma seperate, which gives you a sharper picture.

Okay, but how do I use this?

Before, I pressed Function and F3 (Which has a hockey stick looking object and a monitor on it). So I'm guessing thats how I go into S-Video mode?

Oh, and above, looks like it changes from laptop monitor to a new monitor source.

Is this the right button to press?

Well now, when I press function and f3, nothing happens. screen doesnt flicker, go black, or anything. Just nothing happens at all. I've also reset my laptop.

Okay never mind what I just said. I got it all working.

Just a question. Is S-Video just used for making my TV act like my computer monitor?

Or can it also be used to playing ps2 on my laptop monitor?

If so, how?

I think your thinking of VGA, which is computer moniter-look. S-video is analog and carries data as 2 signals.

to play PS2 on the laptop you need a ps2 VGA cord, I dont know if they have them, they probably do.

Uh, wut? If the s-video is an output, it can only output signal. If it is an input, then you plug any output into it and holy crap, it acts like an input.

This stuff really isn't hard, and it seems like you spend more time asking us questions than you do working on it, seeing as you posted that you solved a problem literately 10 minutes after asking about it.

Okay Okay, everythings cool but I ran into 2 problems.

1) The font on the TV is VERY small. Like, ctrl and scrollup fixes it for webpages, but not for url links, or halo/halflife 2.

How do I fix this?

Also, for some reason my task bar is cut off, when Im looking at the TV. Hmm Weird.

Maybe it's because your TV can only display 320x240, but that's probably not it!

Um... Duh.

TVs have a much lower resolution than computer monitors. Lower your screen res to something like 800x600 and maybe some of that stuff will be readable. (640x480 is the easiest to read while still being somewhat useful.) It will be even better if you use straight S-video instead of running it to Composite. (Composite sucks.)

The taskbar is cut off due to overscan.

Yea Yea, I know what overscan is. But is there anyway I can fix it?
I dislike having my start menu/taskbar cut off.

Not to mention my Tv's "Menu" doesn't have a option where I can, reposition the screen, or make it wider or thinner.
