Wiimote mod

I didnt put this in the news section because I dont think this isn't enough of a "hack" to put it there. But anyways I got bored today and instead to working on my portable '64 like i should be, I figured I'd mod my wiimote.

I took and orange smd LED off of a cordless phone from Goodwill(came with 3 800mah Ni-Mh AAA's for $.99

) and replaced one of the blue LED's on the wiimote with it.

I was going to use the blue LED for my psp but I couldn't get it off in one piece

Any tips on removing smd LEDs?

Nice mod!!!!! u should make it the pal snes colours (green,red,blue,yellow) Retrotendo!!

Thanks! Thats a good idea.

But I'm not going to make any changes until I can figure out a way to remove the LEDs without damaging them or the board.

What you need is something like this.

Unless you have a lot of money for a nice, REAL hot-air workstation. Or you could just get one of those tiny pointed tips or a "hot knife" tip for your soldering iron.

Get hot tweezers for your soldering station (if you have one). They are a little bit pricy. I prefer the Hakko 936 soldering station with the 11 series iron.

Yeah, that would probably be the best option... but now you're talking $300+ since he probably doesn't have a station.

Nah I dont have a soldering station. Just the the plain 'ol soldering iron
