Trading guns for Xbox's in Mexico City
I heard something on the radio about it on the way home from a star/planet gazing thing at school. I found a linky to an article about it.
Pretty good idea, hmm?

yeah I heard this on AOTS on G4.
Its only High Calibre guns like a assult rifle and guns like that, which the guns would be worth more than the consol/Computer so its not really a good deal.

Yes, I agree with post 2. If you could trade in, say, a crappy Marlin .22 for an Xbox 360, then that'd be awesome. But the average, ahem, "crime gun" would be worth more than a 360. Or at least as much.
Now a PS3, that would be a bit different. I wonder what Jack Thompson thinks of this story?
I read a story that back in the day Commodore would give you $100 if you traded in a computer towards a C64. So people would buy Sinclair Spectrums for $50 and send that in, for a $50 savings.

so playing GTA is like practicing shooting a real gun? I guess you never really shot a real gun in your life have you? They are nothing alike.vskid wrote:Then they'd get practice, and get a new gun.Rekarp wrote:rather have them kill people in a video game then in real lifevskid wrote:So they take the guns away, and give them a way to play GTA.

What I meant is, if you spend all day shooting people, it doesn't seem as bad to shoot people in real life. That doesn't mean you will shoot people because you play GTA, but since that deal is geared toward gangsters, they will think its even more acceptable to shoot people.
At a thing at school, they said that someone that when on a rampage with a gun better accuracy than an average cop, and he hadn't shot a gun in his life. I think its BS, someone on a rampage is shooting people at will and generally isn't in immediate danger, but cops shoot to save either their life or someone else's, so they just unload on the threat.

dude, did you completly misunderstand this? they are offering to trade illegal firearms like assualt rifles and submachine guns for PCs and xboxes in an effort to get these types of guns off the streets, its not like its manditory or some crap.
dunno bout you but my marlin golden 39A is pretty much the best .22lr rifle out there and worth at least 175$ not exactly cheap, and accurate within 2 inches or less at 100 yards so not exactly crappy either!crappy Marlin .22
