Okay, so it's broken, but it should be easy enough to fix. Check it out! $20.50 shipped! :D This should come in handy for my GC laptop... you would think, anyway, wouldn't you? :P Once I finally get it, I'll start working on reverse engineering the PSU. My first step will be to measure the mA being used on each voltage line. I'll surely post my results for you guys to see once I get them. My next purchase will be parts for the new PSU I'll build that will run off of 7.2V. :twisted: This will probably happen... around my birthday, which is May 18th. This should give be plenty of time to figure out exactly what I'll need and draw up schematics. This is gonna be awesome. 8)

Edit: Oh, just wondering... how much might you guys buy these ultra-efficient, 7.2V Gamecube PSUs for if I were to sell them anyway? :) They'll be on custom printed PCBs, of course... hmm... these might actually cost quite a bit to manufacture. :? Bah... I'll think about this later... it's 5AM... so... yeah... (Friggin' Daylight Savings Time...)

yeah I want to someday creat a Ebay account and buy some supposedly broken GCs, fix em up and resell them for a ton more.

Hee hee... thanks guys. :) I'll try calibrating the laser first.

As for the PSUs, well, I wish I could come up with a price... but I don't know how much it's going to cost me either... I suppose I could print the PCBs myself... that would make things cheaper. Shipping to the UK shouldn't be a problem, it'll just be a small circuit board. I could always use Sparkfun for PCBs... I think they still print PCBs for $2.50 per square inch, and I doubt my PSU will be any bigger than 2" by 2" or so. But that's technically still $10, plus shipping... What do you guys think? Would it be cheaper for me to make my own PCBs? Or, would any of you know of a cheaper place than Sparkfun? My only problem with doing it myself is that I'll be using SMDs... which means tiny traces and tiny pads, and I don't know if I can etch that small. :? Anyone here have experience with etching their own PCBs? Any tips? :)

Do this with PS2s. I do it when I need a little cash and I don't need it fast. Buy one with a disc read error and replace the laser in it. Simple and you get a lot of cash for nothing. Also, try making a website, modding them, putting them in custom cases, sell them for around $400+ :D . Just remember all the legal crap you have to say about what you aren't responsible for and how you intend them to be used (legal issue) :shock: .

Gamecube is easier to do, but more people probably want PS2s, but ps2 you will need to make sure its a disc read error, and PS2s break like if you bump em to hard so theres gonna be a lot of Unknown reasoned Broken PS2s on Ebay that you have to wade through till you find one with Disc read error.

GC= Easy =Same amount of cash as ps2 without haveing to buy a laser.

I'll probably do that with GC, as PS2 IMO suck ass, but GC Sucks ass too but has more games that I like than PS2, not to mention im 60% nintendo Fanboy.

UPDATE: I had issues paying for this... I couldn't redeem my gift certificate that I was going to use to pay for it... for whatever reason. I finally got it paid for on... tuesday, I think, and the guy shipped it out yesterday. What I didn't know is that it's shipping from Canada... so I won't be getting it until next wednesday. :? Oh well, still a good deal. *shrugs* I'm aiming to have the PSU's mA draw for each voltage measured by the end of next week. I'll be posting the results here when I get them, so check back next weekend or so. :) I might run into some problems... like I usually do... so don't hold me to that deadline. :roll:

*double posting only to bring people back*

I finally got my cube today! It took a week longer than I thought it would, but I finally have it now, and I got it fixed within an hour of opening the box. (Laser tweak = easy fix...) It runs great now. :D I won't have time to do the mA measurements until later tonight... and my night starts around 12:00AM and lasts 'till about 5:00AM... :P So basically, check back tomorrow morning for a new thread in this section listing the mA draws... I'm gonna try to do it tonight, anyway. :)
