What OS to pick

Don't use XP Media center ed.

I ran that on my Dell Inspiron E1505, very unstable! I can't count how many times explorer.exe (not to be mistaken with iexplore.exe) has crashed!

Well vb master is right but right now with no os it would cost $1440.15 . You may be thinking that is overpriced but its not because I didn't say that I was buying a case or a LCD monitor.

I don't do thhis myself, but Linux with a Windows and Mac emuulator. In other words, just tri-boot.

XP tiny, Its small very fast, never crashes. Also its free.

No gaming mouse, but absolutely get a Belkin Nostromo N52 sub keyboard/controller. Very comfy, and I can play most non-mouse games entirely with my left hand! (Stop thinking that right now you pervert!

. No really my right hand is typically soar from using the mouse to study all day so being able to game with my left hand is a big bonus. And I can change channels tv without pausing.)

Suggestion:
-XP Home with XPLite configured
-Ubuntu
-Vista Ultimate

You got your free shell, your gaming shell, and your everything else shell. Of course, if you could only go for one: I recommend Vista, for I haven't experienced any troubles of compatibility in games.

EDIT: jleemero, what the hell is so good about Media Center? It just sucks RAM.
