Digital picture frame numero dos! (update 3/12/07)

I just finished it today - it's a wedding present for a good friend of mine

It came out well and I am very pleased with it. Picture frame number two was easier and went faster because I used lessons learned from making the first one.

Front

Side

Back (had some plastic on hand that I'm going to use the rest for vacuum forming one of these days). The scratches seen here are worse than in person - you have to hold it at an angle in the light to really see them.

Here's the girl who helped me make important decisions about how it all should look and took the above pictures (notice my borrowed/stolen ball cap on her head):

Used a Sony PSOne screen (although Zeniths are just as good), a SanDisk Photo Viewer (I think that's the name) and the power jack and power adapter from the screen (which has enough juice to power the screen and the photo viewer slide show thing). All housed in a beautiful shadow box from Hobby Lobby

I highly recommend this project as "the gift" to give friends and loved ones. Sure you could go buy one, but it's not handmade and personalized now is it?

I'm warning you, once I get the time there's going to be no stopping me. Ha ha, I currently have three different designs of SNES portables I want to make all at the same time.

I was wondering if anyone would notice that. It's the very one I bought from CTF.

Thanks for the compliment, but I didn't make the frame. Just everything else.

i think for your next one you should throw in a speaker and give it the ability to play movies so you can have a digital home movie viewer, that would be cool but i suppose a vcr has already been made anyway

The one I'm making (Yes I realise this thread is a week old, but it's still at the top) will have RCA in, and speakers, since I'm using an intec screen. Should be very simple, and acts as a 5" tv!

Yes, as a matter of fact, I did!

But hey, did they end up liking that piece of awesomeness? I hope so! Also, I've been a bit curious... that SNESp revision of yours you've been talking about; it's had me biting at my nails! Can we expect a project update sometime in the near future, perhaps?

I've actually got two SNES portable projects in the works, but one will definitely be finished before the other.

Here's a teaser pic to agonize you even further.

As you can see, I was productive over spring break.

looks awesome so far, ive seen a lot of those cases lately. Good idea for the l and r buttons, is it comfy so close to the edge.

doing the same thing with mine "kinda" im using different buttons but yeah its more then comfy. these are some badass cases thats for sure.

Is it just me or does that limp wrench look kinda... phallic? That ad's been on the Sunday comics for years and I immaturely think that every time I look at the danged thing.

As for comfort of the shoulder buttons, it's great! My girlfriend says she likes it more than having them on top because it feels more natural than curving your fingers over the top of a normal controller. And when you're not using the buttons, they fit perfectly into the curvature of your fingers.
