Differnet Batteries on same Protable (56K)

I have two different batteries but only one charger. The charger says it can output 9V at 550mAh but its for a 7.2V Battery.

Could I use the charger above to charge the batteries below?
I have two 9.6V batteries, one at 700mAh and another at an unknown mAh.

Also could I use both type of batteries (7.2V and 9.6V) on the same SNES portable? I'm guessing yes and that it would just get hotter because of the 7805 chip.

It would probably work; however, using those two batteries in a single portable probably isn't the best idea. The extra juice from the 9v battery simply isn't enough to make it worth your trouble, especially since you'd be adding a good amount of weight to the portable.

Oh, and for starters, you should NEVER use a Ni-CD battery in a portable, especially if it's going to be mounted internally as a permanent fix. The memory discharge is just too severe, and they're simply not very effective as time goes on. I'd get a Ni-MH battery, but even that's not as good as say, a Li-Poly. Just my take on the matter. Actually they will be externaly attached with velcro on them.
And I was thinking of using each of the 9V one at a time not at the same time.
and I do have a Li-ion battery but everytime I hook it up it never powers so I got the only battery avalible at my Radioshack (I don't know why anyone recomends this place it dosen't have anything).

From my experience most of the chargers I have seen have a higher voltage than the batteries they are charging. I think that this is normal just my opinion though.

I went ahead and tried to charge the 9.6V batteries with the 7.2V charger and nothing exploded, but I have no way of knowing if it actually charged the batteries.
I have a digital and analog mulitmeter but I don't know what setting to use (or what the markings on the analog mean) to check if it got fully charged.
