lol your idea makes sence hatrix sorry for not quite catching the drift earlier, for me it was about 5 AM lol. i do tend to agree that the current poll system doesnt really do a fair job of judging a contest like this

Don't worry about it, at least you finally understand what I've been trying to get across all day.. Congrats on winning, you've definitely deserved it.Triton wrote:lol your idea makes sence hatrix sorry for not quite catching the drift earlier, for me it was about 5 AM lol. i do tend to agree that the current poll system doesnt really do a fair job of judging a contest like this
Hopefully we can implement this new voting system for the next contest.
By the way, I think the idea of a solder off is no good.. A lot of us can solder, but what exactly would we have to show for it? A few LEDs? There's not really enough room for competitiveness with that.

Well contests that are less confined bring out new ideas and concepts.
For example, a contest where you must build an atari 2600 on perfboard won't bring out as many ideas as one where you must rebuild an atari 2600.
They sound similar, but the second one can lead to many different ideas, like an Atari 2600 rebuilt into a plush toy (*cough* do this and you'll get my vote*). Excuse me.

Indeed we can.
Here's what I propose:
- A monthly Benheck.com contest where there is no winner, only a highest mark out of 10. I guess that's a winner though.
- Prizes may be donated, on the donater's terms of course (Ex. - Winner must pay for shipping if he wants it, etc.)
- 3 weeks will be for building, a 4 day window will be given for submissions, and the 3 remaining will be for rating EVERYONE's work.
-Everyone will judge each and every submission out of 10, then post how they feel if they please.
Also, if there is substantial interest in these contests (50 someodd votes, and my first thread with 4000 someodd views says there is) perhaps we should consider a contest forum where ideas for future contests can be discussed, because there's no way I can come up with one every month. Eventually, I'll draw blanks.

Idea...
Gamecube case mods.
Gamecubes are cheap and plentiful.
It would be interesting to see what some people would make considering how plain gamecubes are. They have no real detail on them, it would make an interesting build.

.... eh?Mageslayer wrote:What could be less plain than a big silver box? I don't get it.
If you're talking about Gamecube, then or purple or black box too..
And it's a blank canvas for mods.. The fact that it is really plain means that we can improve it dramatically though different reasons.

Well if a dedicated forum won't be made, I suppose I shall make a new thread every month. Any ideas can be PM'ed to me.
I'm thinking a design contest will be next, to raise general interest in contests, because everyone can participate, not just people with supplies.
Design what? I have an idea, and you can even make it if you so please. And it's simple.
