Bondo Open voting thread. (Poll Me)

I think that everyone's vote was concluded consciously, I don't think telling the people that the voting should be based solely on one thing with rule out the other things from the voter's mind. This voting system is based on democracy, the voter's decision all-together.

I'm not sore at all, I'm defending the position of most of the people here. I side with Triton, and if you want me to, I'll delete my name from the polling system.

ok so now i'm a hypocrite? hell if you want proof i will drop out of the contest and remove my entry from the poll! i don't give a crap, if it means that much to you to win have it, its yours!

Can you conclusively say that Dark Lord only deserved 2 votes? He did pretty well,

And of course I don't want you, or Triton for that matter to remove your names.. Without competition, what was the point? I'm not sore, but I really don't think the polls reflect the results as well as they should..

Whether I participated in this or not, I'd still feel the same way about the votes..

There's nothing worse than "Congratulations, you lost with only 2 votes... You suck!"

I'd want to feel better about it by having everyone say "well done, x/10" so it looks like it was actually worthwhile entering.

This is a friendly contest afterall.

If anyone should withdraw, it's me.. And then I'M proving that I don't care if I win or lose, the fact is the votes don't reflect on how well everyone has actually done..

The way I figured it, this wasn't about the quality/quantity of the way we used bondo, it was just the means with which we were to create something neat. That way we were all stuck to the same confines, using bondo and not something like a CNC/vaccum forming machine.

So yeah, it is all about clever/fun design, otherwise we all might as well have just made a flat block of bondo, stuck buttons in it and whoever's was smoothest wins!

Sorry you don't like the way it's turning out Hatrix, I think you have a nice piece of work there. Heck, some better outside light photos might have lent to more votes. Everything is a factor in a contest like this, since people only have the pictures to tell them what to vote on.

Anyways, glad this has turned out so well. It was a bit rough, but it worked, and now we can iron the rules out a bit more for future contests. Maybe have a few people talk with Kurt (the ringleader of these contests now

) to discuss it beforehand and get it all sorted out.

If we rate each entry out of 10, we get a scope of how well someone actually did..

In Dark lords case, 2 people thought his was the best by poll. But what's saying if I had a second vote, I wouldn't vote for him? The same rule can apply to anyone here, for any other entry.. They don't reflect the actual results or effort that everyone deserved..
Combined, Dark Lord could have beaten me if marked out of 10, you never know.. That's why it's a more fair system.

You make an interesting point. A very good idea for future contests, actually.

Set guidelines for people, what 1-10 are (10 being best, 9 being aw3som3, 8 being 1337, 1 being pwn3d n00b, 2 being n00b) <== you get the point

Then, the averages are taken and calculated.

A grand idea, but that would have to be done manually, or on a program made by one of us. A simple program it would be. I could do it in VB, but I wouldn't know how to save the individual's votes.

Anyone up for the challenge? PM me so that future contests will be less yell-ey!

You have no idea how happy you've made me.. You actually listened to what I was talking about!

An excel spreadsheet would be sufficient for the job.

I'll make an example.

Hey its a friendly competition and everyone knows they did a good job and personally i dont really care how many votes i recieved because it was my first hack/mod that i completed(well i am still wiring the controller because everything was too large and didnt fit in the case yesterday

) and i will get much better over time.

once i get a job i am in the next project/competition/challenge or whetever you want to call it and i will do much better each and every time i do something.

we should also place these things in Engadget to show people what we at benheck are capable of doing.

Here's an example.

The grey part is what the vote would be from that persons highest vote, at the bottom is a tally of the vote.

All entries were rated 1 - 10, and added up, and you'll notice that the overall score isn't as it's voted. A's score is higher than D's, but is 1 vote behind, and C has a score very close to A and D, but has no votes in comparison B who has a low score, but one vote..

So you see why our current vote casting method sucks, and why I've been arguing with you all..

Nobody can vote for themselves in this method making it less suseptible to bias.
