Hatrix don't be a jerk. You could have just as easily given the advice you gave without having to share that you think it's "piss poor" and "crap". You gave some good tips, but don't be so rude.

Try drilling holes in each of the corners at an angle on the fan. If you could find a clear fan you just hotglue the leds in at an angle and it looks awsome. never tried it on a cube but it should work fine. also, use different colors and see how that works out. Keep up the good work. You have tried something that is not that common and that should be an accomplishment not a failure. Just keep posting updates so I can do this to my cube and show it off, don't worry, I'll give credit to you for idea, but I still did it and that will make me that much coller among everyone at school

. At my school no one is that inteligent. They have never even seen a cutom case or heard of a modchip, If you said N64p they would call you LD and think you were crazy, at least my friends have seen my work and they belive it.

Yeah, I thought about drilling holes at an angle, but I couldn't do it from the bottom, because the fan enclosure, the GC screw post, and the metal shielding got in the way. I've spent ages trying to work out how to do it. It's a shame 50mm LED fans are impossible to come by. But thanks for the ideas and support, and good luck with your GC!

Updates

-I've finally finished the fan mod. I decided to follow my idea of drilling a hole in the back of the enclosure, and sticking the LED in there. I sanded it down, and it diffuses green light really nicely around the whole fan.

-I want to extend the controller port lights to the sides as well, not just the top and the bottom. When I did the top and bottom, I removed the metal tabs, and hot glued the LEDs there in place. The sides also have convenient tabs which I could remove as well. However, do the controllers use these tabs as ground points, and if so, will removing all the tabs on the ports affect the controllers in any way?

I just realized I am talking to someone in the UK.

Do people there know English or does PHP translate the language for them.

I don't think the controllers use the metal as ground because I heard that they have a seperate ground through the port itself not the shielding, it might be another ground and you might have to mod your controller but it should work fine. I know how to find out, plug it up

. IO don't see how it could hurt anything, it just wouldn't work. Please give an update on this ASAP. nI would like to know since my next portable is going to be a GameCube.

Yes, PHP can translate English into English! It's quite ingenious, you know! Imagine how usefuly it would be for translating German into German! Or any other language into (get this) the same language!

But seriously, I'll try the controller port extension next weekend, and I'll post my results here.

Ha ha ha. I typed this and I was trying to think of something funny to put in there and I can't belive someone actually answer my question alone. But I really hadn't realized I was talking to a person there. I was also wondering if it did translate but I did know that they spoke English there

Exactly, man. Hatrix, this isn't the first time you've been a total ass. The guy's putting all his time and effort into this mod, he doesn't need your useless criticism. First you were a jerk to triton in the bondo-off, and now this. Besides, no pics are better than none. And you're one to criticize about lighting in pictures; in your recent entry to the bondo thread, you wouldn't even take a fully-lit picture of the damn thing! And for future reference, jerks don't get the best of treatment here. Just look at sam fisher.

TheOnlyOneHeFears, nice job! The mod is pretty nifty, especially once that modchip gets in there. Keep it up!

god i hate these gcse's as well are you in year 10 or 11? and i have to say americans are pretty bad at geography and im including myself. and american came to my school with some foreign exchange program and asked if they spoke english in ireland

I though I might add a word of advise. When I modded and painted my GCN, I was stuck on the fan light thing too. Then it came to me that if I took some of that thin paper plastic stuff, that comes in transparent colors, and sanded it down then surrounded the fan with a few leds it turned out looking great! I would show you a picture but a wire in the led circuit is disconnected and the lights don't turn on.

. I really would like to know what you are talking about, I would like to do this to my GC. If you can, show us a pic of the inside of your GC. One picture is worth a million words (at least when you are trying to explain something to an American, No... I included myself

). I never was a good visual learner (don't you hate it when you open an instruction manual and there are just a bunch of dumb pictures, that is if you read the manuel).
