Do you realize how much it costs to put an offshore rig in? 1-2 Billion dollars just to build the dam thing. Thats not including laying pipe or filling stations for tankers. Operating costs are up to $100,000+ a day while drilling. So if Exxon Mobile decided to build a new platform it would cut a lot into there earnings/profit. All that means is that Exxon Mobile wasn't building any new infrastructure in the 1stQ. Remember Katrina/Rita? The Industry had to rebuild all the structures in LA and gulf area.

If you really want to argue against the oil prices talk to OPEC. lol
did you read my post?it was the 4th quarter that they mad this insane profit (up 46% from the previous quarter) and this was STRAIGHT PROFIT, they grossed over 96 billion dollars that quarter.

more info http://www.wikithepresidency.org/index. ... ofiteering

cant blame it all on opec, its our own companies that are reaming us for every dime they can get away with!

Hey do you know why the Planet is warming up? We are coming out of a screwing Iceage, the planet has gone in and out of Ice ages since it began.

People there is no such thing as Global Warming, well there is but Not from Pollution and crap like that, Like I said, WE ARE COMING OUT OF AN ICE AGE!!!!
If you look at the graph that teraflop posted, it shows that we were "coming out of an ice age" 15,000 years ago. And if you had actualy looked at it, we are at the peak before a new ice age.

How can you use a computer when you are obviously so blind? :P
 0wn3d, I'm personally think global warming is real, and people need to stop beating around the bush and arguing over it and start making changes.

This thread scares me

im surprised at the ammount of you who think that climate change is bogus

theres little point arguing this case in a medium such as this because niether side is going to back down

i'll keep the rest of my views to myself otherwise the politics will come out

I haven't seen anyone say that- some people have said Global Warming is false, but what they mean is that WE are not causing climate changes, not that climate changes are not occuring. If anything I think the consensus on this thread is that the climate does change. The thing people have differing views on is WHY the climate changes and whether we are to blame.

I mean, of course the climate changes. We all know there were large ice ages and then warmer periods, and then there were more modern tempurature shifts as evidence on this graph showing the so-called "medievil warm period" and the following "little ice age."

I think the charts showing solar activity connected to climate change and CO2 lagging behind climate change are enough hard evidence to prove it's almost completely natural.
