GBO battery probbums.

Ok, so I just ebay'd a GBO for 9 bucks.

The screen cover was off, but some quick contact cement fixed that.

However, it refuses to run from batteries, and I am forced to use my DC adapter. It works fine then, though.

There is some battery acid on the battery contacts, but not covering the springs in such a way that the batteries wouldn't make contact. It's not all over the PCB either, so that's not the problem.

Any ideas?

Well take it apart. It's clearly a connection problem between the battery holder and power in. Use a small flathead. I was able to remove the triwings with one.

Actually, mine doesn't have triwings, oddly. Phillips. I've already opened it up, and the PCB is fine. It's definelty legit Nintendo though. The battery connector area looked okay, but I did it in a rush so I couldn't fully inspect it.

Just to pop in - some 1st gen GBOs have phillips screws - the triwing screws were introduced after piracy went rampant in China.

Ooh, yay, I have a 1st gen. Also, this lacks the TUV-approved thingy on the back present in my cousin's triwing one. I think the triwing one had a different board too, I was puzzled when I opened up my GBO to find two main boards with a ribbon cable between them.
