Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.
I've recently ripped my Warcraft III and the expansion to my computer beause my DVD drive is a pain (seriously.... no piracy on my part for once. ) I have the ISO (actually it's a .CCD, but whatever) on a virtual drive made by Alcohol 120% yet every time I try to load it it says the disc is not in. This problem does not occur with Diablo II, Starcraft, or the original Warcraft III. If I put the disc in then take it out when it's done with the initial load, it runs fine. However this is an annoyance and I'd like to avoid it. Any suggestions?
I once wrote:My head may be in the clouds, but the view up here is breathtaking.
"What kind of a monster are you?"
"The kind that killed your family."
Do games start up when you start the virtual drive, like when you put a real disc in? You might be able to have it mimic the drive closing, so it'll autoplay. And maybe Frozen Throne just doesn't know where to find the disc, so maybe theres a setting to change for that.
I downloaded Warcraft to try before I gave up and paid for it for the sweet sweet (Swweeeeeet) Battle.net. I think it has something to do with the virtual drive not being the default drive (the one that Warcraft checks for a disk)
Warcraft III uses a protection known as SecuROM. You need to have Alcohol strip that protection when it produces the image of the CD.
This is how:
If you want to produce the image in a burnable format, you must do some further patching outside of Alcohol.
