mini NES arcade cabinet

I got this idea a little while ago, but I didnt have a screen I could use. Then as I was reading the GC forum and I thought "of course! The 3 crappy gamecube screens I bought off ebay months ago! They would be playable for NES."

I found some buttons at mouser.com that I think are a lot like the ones they use in arcade cabinets except smaller.

The NES board will be on the back of the case. And you just insert a cartridge on the side.

I need to learn how to use my router I got for christmas, and then use it to cut some plywood for a mini cabinet.
What I need are some dimensions of a standard arcade cabinet (some plans wouldnt hurt either) and then I'll shrink the dimensions. Hopefully the dimensions will stay around 12x6x5in (total guess of NES board dimensions)

Soe does anybody have the dimensions of a cabinet?

I don't have the dimensions, but http://www.happcontrols.com is pretty good for buttons, though they are full size.

Do you think I could get in trouble if I went to the mall and used a measuring tape and camera to get the dimensions of a cabinet? There is hardly ever anybody there on account of 99% of the machines are busted. The 1% is the DDR machine that people after school LOVE to play

. But I could go there before school gets out cuase I'm home schooled and time does not applie to me!

Looking at the dimensions of acentipede cabinet , I think I'll have to dumb down the case a bit. It would just be too hard to make exactly like that. This is gonna be so cool when I'm done! (2 years from now

Just a thought, but there is a rgb version of the nes ppu you could use if you wanted to put an rgb tv in there

Hey, youre homeschooled? So am I! I don't have tons of time to do stuff I WANT to do whenever I want to do it, cuz I'm doing hard stuff like LATIN and stuff. I have built an arcade machine myself, although it uses MAME instead of an NES. I am currently working on a handheld NES. It's nice to know there are younger people besides just me who are interested in anything besides XBOX.

This is similar to the idea behind my NES project. I'm going to design it around the NES Advantage. I'll create a case mold based on the Advantage but extend the back on it at an angle to house a PSOne screen. I'll either have the cartridge insert in front, under the controls, or behind the screen. But actually shaping it like a little cabinet is a sweet idea. Go for it!

youre home schooled!?! LUCKY BASTARD! lmao =P my teacher just confiscated my game gear today, i wasnt even there she just took it... GRR

it makes me want to plan against her... again.
