NES help

i'm new at this but i want to add a cooling fan to my NES system . how do i actually connect it ?

Do you actually have a fan in hand or are you researching before you go get one? I suppose it all depends on the voltage it needs to run.

Regardless of what you do, I suppose it wouldn't be much harder than connecting power to it and maybe an on/off switch for the fan if you want to save battery juice. Probably about the "hardest" part would be making sure you have the right voltage going to the fan, but really that's not very difficult. Find a fan you want to use and we'll give you tips from there!

i was gonna use a 92mm case cooling fan. unless u would suggest something better.

i have another question if i want to add the sega system to it how do i connect both nes and sega to the tv so they show up on the screen?

is it possible to have them both on at the same time one on top of the other.?

Ehhhhhhhh I don't think that's possible. Not for you or me or any non-electrical engineer type person. I don't want to sound rude but why on earth would you want both at the same time? Wouldn't that be kinda hard to play?

Back to the fan topic: Choose whatever fan you like, so long as you're able to find out what it needs to run. I don't have much experience with fans, but from what I can figure out is that it shouldn't take too much to run it. If you're buying a new fan then check the packaging and see if it says what it needs to run. If you're stealing a fan from something else, I dunno...

My only question is why would an NES need this?
The fan most likely takes 12v, and as far as I know, 5v is all you can get from the NES that will turn off with the switch. 12v fans run like crap on 5v, in my experience. You might be able to get 8.5v or whatever the power adapter gives it that turns off with the switch, but I don't know enough about the NES to tell you whether or not you can.

That case fan is 100% overkill. I'm not going to stop you if you want to use it, but adding a fan of any type to an NES is completely unnecessary. It won't do anything except pull dust into your system and waste power. That said, if you still want to go through with it, the NES AC adapter is technically rated for 10V. Of course, it will probably vary from about 9-16, the latter of which isn't really safe for a 12V fan like yours, though it will probably be fine. All you should have to do is wire the fan directly to the AC adapter input inside the NES.

Regarding the split screen thing; that would require some seriously complicated circuitry... it's probably not worth it to you. But, you can add a simple switch to switch between Genesis and SNES A/V.

Step one: Buy second TV
Step two: Connect Sega to TV
Step three: Place second TV on top of the other one
