Strange Xbox problem. Please help!

I scored a second xbox from a garage sale for $20 today. I got home and tested it and it worked, so I decided to soft mod it. I transferred the saves over for Ndure with mechassault. I ran the saves installed the soft mod, and about 3/4 of the way through the mod the xbox froze. I guessed that it was because it had over heated, the fan didn't seem to sound right and it wasn't blowing as much air out as my current xbox does. So I booted it up with mechassault and manually recovered the C drive through FTP. I rebooted and it worked so I tried to run the softmod again, this time turning the fan speed to 5x hoping that it would cool the xbox for long enough to install the mod. this time it almost finished but locked up again. So I decided to swap HDDs with my tsop flashed xbox, forgetting that xbox hdds are locked, thinking that I could install the mod that way because I knew that my other xbox would not over heat. Obviously it didn't work and I realized why. But when I put the HDD back into the old xbox It would not boot mechassault, but went straight to the error screen. Does anybody have any idea what it wrong, and is it fixable? Thanks.

I also wanted to note that the eject button is flashing red and green and is behaving exactly like my other Xbox does when I unplug the HDD. I have already checked and double checked the cables though.
