My Firefox Broke :(

Post by Sir Games-A-Lot »

OK, here's the issue:

Not too long ago firefox stated to refuse to save bookmarks with with crtl+d, then the download manager started to malfunction, it no longer shows the files I'm currently downloading, and now it refuses to save content that it can also display in the browser ("save link as" no longer works on images or audio).

I tried uninstalling FF and reinstalling it into a different folder from a fresh download of the installer, but that didn't help, AND my old toolbar bookmarks (drag the website's icon into the toolbar) are still there! So:

1. Is there a quick fix for this?

2. Where are the files that FF creates that are not deleted when it is unistalled usually located? I hope that by killboxing them and re-installing FF the problem will go away.

EDIT: Opera's not that bad though .

I personally can't stand Opera, its too much like IE7 in that you can't make anything the way you want and everything is in the stupidest place.

Go to C:, Documents and settings, your account, application settings, mozilla, firefox, and delete the profile (application settings might be hidden, so you need to make hidden files visible) All your setting and extensions will be gone, so make sure you get your bookmarks from the profile if you want them.

OK, I just searched for "firefox" and deleted all the results (there were a whole bunch of old profiles from previous installs). All works now YAY!
