I may not be colorblind but I am deaf in my right ear. Which also keeps me out of the Military.

I'm not color blind, but I don't have depth perception, so 3D doesn't exist for me. My right eye is always looking more to the right than my left eye, which gives me a huge field of vision. To get the same effect, you can close one of our eyes and try doing regular stuff (not driving though) like maybe play catch, and thats what its like all the time for me. Thats part of the reason I suck at most sports, but I'm likely better than a normal person with their eye closed, because I'm so used to it.

I'm not color blind, but my friend is. He's always asking me "What color is this!?" And sometimes I'd tell him "It's labeled on the marker... " or I'd just lie to him. But that's mean!

I have really bad vision though. If I took off my glasses right now, my computer monitor would be blurry...

Sort of off topic, but are dogs actually colorblind? Like black and white, or are they like people color blind where certain colors look the same? How would someone even find out? It's not like the dog would be like, "Woof, that's green! Woofwoof!"

Ok, I can understand that you cant see the red-green, but what do you then see them as? a black or the like?

One guy in my year 8 class, was told this. That in around 1-3 years, his vision would lose definition, untill one day he can't see at all. What woould you people do here? I can think of many jobs that you could do without being able to see at all. This came true for him sadly, I havn't heard from him since.

Myself? I am shortsighted, but not too much, I can see about 1-2 metres in front, but no further, I wear contact lenses.

I feel sorry for you, must make thinks hard for you.

All the best.

EDIT: Dogs are not actually colourblind at all. This is an urban myth. They are slighly less recptive to red, but can still see it.

I'm near-sighted in one eye & far-sighted in the other. Also, I'm cross-eyed on both eyes, so depending on how tired I am & which eye I'm looking out of, one eye'll drift up or to the right/left.

Up until a year or so ago, I actually couldn't look at an object less than a yard away with both eyes.

That seems to be the case for many animals these days, such as ferrets. I suppose seeing blood would be an advantage for an animal.

As with all other problems, blindness will be fixed through technological means. You already have people seeing through cameras linked directly to the brain. Of course this won't work so well for people who were born blind...

The cameras are actually connected to the eye/optic nerve. Well, a receiver actually. The camera is connected to the receiver via a magnetic clip I believe.

Technology just has to catch up w/ this one though. Currently, the resolution of the image is low, & the technology still needs to be polished off & perfected before it can be something like the implants the deaf are getting these days.

I remember a friend of mine in high school was color blind. He didn't make a big deal about it, mentioned it once and that was really the end of it.

As it goes I can see the whole spectrum, my only problem is my general vision suck.I had to get glasses when I was in 3rd grade. I'm wearing glasses that will likely be coke bottles by the time I'm in my 30s or 40s. Thanks for the eyes mom and dad.

I found a way to force color blind into your eyes. The way i did it was I put on ski goggles that were colored orange. I think my eyes tried to adjust to the orange tint and make all the other colors look normal. When i took them off everything was kinda turquoise. Also, if you take a cheap plastic circular sled and lie in the snow with it over your face for a bit, then move it everything looks kinda pinkish. Try it some time, its pretty neat.

I hate it when I have to bring up being color blind. Whenever I do people ask me "what color is this?!". I hate it sometimes.
