Electronic.... DNA?

Okay, we've got a school project where we have to construct a double helix. The teacher doesn't care what you use, so long as it has a few basic requirements (I'll post it later). Seeing as school has taken up most of my time, and my amount of mods has steadily decreased, I thought it'd be cool to make one out of electronic components! Problem is, I'm fresh out of ideas on how.

Anyone got some?

oh. you can prob make a rotating one with some leds and a microcontroller (and thinking never hurts)

it could be a simple sculpture, not special mechanisms needed...just tie (or solder) a bunch of Resistors in a double helix fashion...you can use different resistances to represent the different chemicals in the strand! (like a 40K resistor is Carbon, and a 100K resistor is nitrogen, ect.)

Of course, you'd have to explain the whole color band system to them

Hook them together in the middle like DNA is and then you will have glowing DNA lol that would be sweet!

Hook up a bunch of LED's in parallel with a flashing LED kit from RadioShack to make a blinking double helix. For bonus points put it on a slow RPM motor so it spins.
