I figure there are a lot of MSPaint threads here, so why not one to share cool tricks?
Smooth gradients
Start out with a 100x100 blank image. Zoom in, and use the line tool to draw a diagonal line from one corner to the other.

Fill both sides with different colours, the two colours you want to make a gradient between.

Now, go into image -> stretch and skew, and set the horizontal value to 1%.

Hit OK, and ta-da, there's your gradient!

To get it back to a normal size, just go back to the stretch and skew menu and stretch it horizontal 500% and repeat that a few times (500% is the max it lets you do it).

I also know how to blend images rather well, as well as a few other neat tricks, so if people support this thread at all I'll post those.

Blending images
All right, to start out, take the 2 images you want to blend, open them in seperate MSPaint windows, and crop them so that they're the same size. I just picked 2 from GIS at random:


Now, open another MSPaint window with the same dimensions as the images. Zoom in to 8x, and start to make a 1x1 grid of red pixels (or whatever colour there seems to be the least of in the two images, red usually works fine).

Then just keep copying and pasting that until it fills up the entire thing.

Alright, now hit ctrl + a to copy the whole thing, and copy it. Choose one of your other pictures, and make sure that this is selected:

And also that your background colour is white (it is by default, so that shouldn't be a problem. Then, paste the grid over top of the image.

Now, hit ctrl + a and copy that image, then go to your other image and set the background colour to the colour you used for the grid (just right click it on the palette, of course), and make sure that option you selected in the first one is selected for this one as well. Then, simply paste the other image on top:

Yay.
If you want better quality, you can, at the start, double the size of the two images, then make the grid twice as big and once you finish, shrink them all back to their original size. It'll look quite a bit better. I just forgot to do it while I was doing this. v
