Use PS3 SIXAXIS as a PC Joystick in Windows

Now you can you the PS3 SIXAXIS in Windows as a PC Joystick! Follow the tutorial below to get it working. I haven't tested with Bluetooth yet, as I'm too cheap to buy a reciever.

Download the Drivers from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZG3CMQV6

Install LibUSB

Plug the controller in, press PS button for 5s let Windows recognize it, etc.

Goto Device Manager and locate the controller under Human Interface Devices, right click and uninstall.

Run the ps3 sixaxis util provided, it will open up a DOS prompt and then close.

In device manager right click on your computer name and click on scan for changes

This should pick up the controller again and you should be able to use it fine. to test the buttons, go into game controls and then into PS3 Controller.

NOTE: The Lights will just keep flashing all stupid like, just ignore it while playing.

I use my Xbox controller and homemade Xbox to USB adapter.

This is the ONLY thing that would make me PAY for anything related to the PS3.

That's pretty old... I tried it out about a month or two ago. Bluetooth doesn't work. I still prefer my Xbox controller with hacked-up USB cable, though. Except for the PC version of Metal Gear Solid... the Dpad is way better than the xbox's. And the Linux kernel even has an option for xbox contoller support. Though sixaxis will probably be added later.

You guys with the Xbox controllers, how well do they work, can I have a link to the tutorial on how to hack the cable. Can you transfer saves to the memory card from you computer using your method?

How different are the PS3 controllers from the PS2 ones anyway? At a glance they have pretty much the exact same design outside... I think I'll just stick with my USB PS2 controller adapter.

The PS3 Controllers are a lot different, they have wii-like motion sensitivity, bluetooth capabilities, built in rechargeable batteries, plus the L1 and R1 buttons and the L2 and R2 buttons are triggers, sorta like on the xbox.

So, really the only difference in this scenario is the L and R trigger buttons, no? That's all I meant. I knew they were wireless and had built-in rechargeable batteries and motion sensitivity... all that fun stuff... but none of these things can really be used for PC applications. Oh, and they don't have a rumble feature, which CAN be used for PC applications. I'm disappointed in Sony... and the ONLY reason I MIGHT buy a PS3 down the road is for MGS4.
