Wireless NOAC--Noob Question(aren't these fun?!)

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forums, just recently got into the whole portable hacking...err...umm...recently.

Anyways, for a starter-offer I'm making a NOAC portable, game grrl mostly. The one question I have is, well I bought a Power Player III and the company sent me the more expensive wireless power player. The only thing I do not want to do is tear this apart and then not be able to return it! $25 isn't a lot but it is still $25! But my question is can I use the wireless one? I'm sure it has a NOAC and then uses a wireless transmitter to receive signals from the controller. So I would have to take off the transmitter and figure out what is what to connect my own tact switches to it. But since I have limited room I thought I would ask if anyone has done this so I can find out how big the NOAC is, if making a bunch of mods would take up more room, and finally would it just be easier to send it back and get a regular Power Player III?

At the same time, this isn't a important question but hey, whats wrong with asking? I was taking out the screen of a Hip Interactive Screen Pad(PS2). I took a look at the buttons on the controller, maybe thinking of using them for the portable. In my vast, although small, knowledge of electronics a switch(a regular, I guess you would call it two-position switch) would have two leads going into it. The PS2 has three, now that I think it is too much work I'm not going to use it, but still would like to know how it works!!!

And my third, and last question! I promise!(Readers thinking, OMFG I HATE NOOBS!!!). I think I got this answered by a previous thread in another section of the forum, but its about tact switches. When I make my fake NESp(what I like to call NOAC portables) I wanted to use a NES controller, but since I cannot find one in my garage I have to go to something else. So what comes first in my mind? Tact switches!!! Since I have a bunch from stealing them off of old appliances, I have a bunch of different sizes, perfect for a NESp. So when I get a NOAC out in front of me I will probably have this figured out, but how would I connect them to the NOAC? I know about following the circuit lines on the circuit board but how would I figure which is which? I have been looking for a pin-out diagram but I can't find one!!! Or I just can't follow the one on ladyada's site...

Thanks for putting up with my noobish questions, especially the last one, I probably will know that answer in a couple minutes of searching, but while I'm asking questions I thought I would through it in!!!

Hmm... powerplayerusa.com? Are they good with returns? I'm sure you could hack it to my it wired, or possibly even leave the wireless circuitry intact, even though it would take up room.

Here's some information on the NES controller. I'm not sure of the pinouts of the SJIII.Wireless, but if you could post some really nice, clear pictures, maybe I could help a bit.

I bought it from justplugandplay.com, hopefully they are good with returns. If not I already ordered a power player III from amazon for $15, so I guess I'll have two. I've always looked at wikipedia for help, but to look up switches passed me for some reason. The wikipedia article actually helped!

I think I'll wait a day before looking inside the wireless for right now, just until I can see if they do infact do returns, if not as I said I'll have another experiment to play with!

I'm looking right now and there isn't any power players except for one that is $25. I bought a used one, if you take a look sometimes you'll catch used ones for a cheap price. It even has a used section on the power player. At the same time there is a bunch of other plug and play ones. I'm pretty sure they're the same thing practically, so you can still use them. Theres a genesis one and a game cube looking one, all for under or right at $20. I wait weeks if I can to get a deal. Money isn't really a hardcore issue at $50, but when you get one for like $20 when it is usually $50, there is a sure satisfaction. To what it goes to I do not know, but I do indeed enjoy it!!! Anyways I think I have almost all of my questions answered! Ben's book just arrived!!! Had no clue the information in it, switches, screens, the internals of the portables, more than I want to type right now! Thats not to say the links given didn't help already! I'm still looking at some switch information on wikipedia.

I would think a wireless one would be ideal for a portable. Even though you'd need to use extra batteries for the controller, you wouldn't have to worry about wiring the controller into the system. Heck, you could make the system an NES with a screen, and have the controlers velcro on, so they don't get lost.

What would be cooler is a portable folding NES mini-laptop with wireless controllers. You could use the extra space you save inside the laptop part to put in extra batteries for longer run time, and use a nice big screen (for a portable anyway)

I think that would be a very cool idea, if executed well. It also would be pretty easy too, I would think.
