What I'm after is installing white light diodes in both Wonderswan Color and Neo Geo Pocket Color so that it's possible to play in the dark. A front light.
I've seen it done. Some guy was selling ready to install kits on eBay ages ago, but now I can't find anything that would tell me a bit more about power consumption and all that.
What type of LEDs should I use, how many and how would I go about connecting them. Directly to power supply from the batteries with separate on / off switch or is there another way that turns the light on when the console is turned, well... on?
Thanks for any kind of answer that might help me. This should be a simple thing to do, but before I start messing around with the consoles [I've got one of each] I'd like to make sure it will work, and it won't screw anything up.

I'd think SMD LEDs but for a front light 3mm might work...
I'd say what you said, directly to the power supply with a seperate switch, that'd work.
I'm not REALLY sure as I've never used either device or anything, but that should work.
Just mounting some 3mm in 2 or 4 places on the inside edge of the case around the screen...

I used to install Afterburner kits in Wonderswans and Neo-Geo Pockets.
Just shining Led's on the screen won't work. You need a "light guide" to spread the light evenly acroos the whole screen. A "light guide" is a piece of plastic that has grooves in it cut at an angle to refract the Led's light across the entire piece of plastic to light the screen.
Sometimes these Afterburner kits still show up on Ebay.
You can also use the Halo kit and take it out of it's case and adapt it. But it uses a different kind of antiglare device which can't be used. The Afterburner kits had an antirelective film you hat to adhere to the Lcd that worked better.
