It could happen tomorrow actually. All electronic devices would cease to work. The earth's polarity would shift and poof! Nothing.

are you talking about geomagnetic pole reversal or something? that probably wont happen for another thousand years at least with the current rate of field decay so i wouldnt worry about it, plus we dont have any solid data that it would seriously effect electronics or not. considering the last one was 780,000 years ago or so
