Retro, what the cache does is hold all data rom websites, saved passwords, google searches, etc etc. The website can see these later on and use it for its own good.

Clearing this will help you in your quest.

The cache doesn't contain auto-login info. Cookies contain auto-login info.

Also, stupid people can't use Linux. Hell, even I have trouble getting drivers up & running on Linux! (...damn Ubuntu, w/ it's non-native TNT2 Model 64 support...always running at 1024x768@60Hz, MOCKING ME!!!!!)

cache and cookies are 2 different things. The cache stores pages and images for sites that you go to frequently so that it loads up faster. Cookies store information if the website tells it to. This can be for stuff like login information, whether you've voted in polls, and other stuff that would be impossible to store on the server since it's so computer specific. And no, cookies are not stored in the cache. In both Internet Explorer and Firefox, you can clear one without clearing the other.
