will this drain the battery

I found a 4.2 inch screen that will work for my snesp for only $20 and i've been following ben's book i bought. I got to the part where he talks about the screens having a bulb in it so i opened up my screen and only could find what looks to be 6 surface mount LED's. I tested the voltage with my digital multimeter and found its has 20.7 volts going to it. so should i remove the LED's in there and replace them with my own or should i just leave them? how much power would 6 of my own white smt leds take? after i get this step done i just need a new snes because something broke on the other one. also is the thing in the picture a inverter for the power? IF anyone could answer my question's that would be great.

K show a picture of the so called smd leds. We can't be sure if we don't see them.

Well there is no need really to replace the LEDs with your own. The only point in the LED-mod is to reduce power by removing the lightbox. Yours doesn't have one, so leave it.

I know that they are surface mount led's because i have a lot of them i've bought before but i dont think they should take over 20 volts just to power. so i should just leave it?

if they are in series and each one has a ~3v drop, that sounds about right. i would leave them be..

I would leave them for simplicity sake.

The only thing you will get from using your LEDs is to negate whatever losses are in the 20v upconversion circuitry, but by introducing your own new LEDs and power supply you may actually draw more power because their circuit is fairly sophisticated compared to one you make yourself.

Just do a quick current draw test and see if the power drain is OK for what you want. It will probably be just fine to leave it as-is.

I bought a battery gauge from powerizer for my portable. It has 5 SMT LED's, and draws only 5-20mA of current or so. The LED's rapidly shut on and off (I think. It hums if it's sitting loosely on the table). If yours are doing this (which wouldn't be unlikely, since it's a pocket TV and they're made for power effeciency) then I'd leave them.

I'd leave them anyways.
