iPodLinux, for those who don't know

It requires work, but when you get it to work you have a gameboy, doom, videos, podzilla (kinda like the finder on a mac), bla bla bla, etc.

wow, i've been using iPod Linux before i got my iPod...mainly cause my friends are retards when it comes to stuff like iPL.

I started out using Rockbox too, but i moved to iPL cause of its much better Gameboy Emulation. woot! Zelda on iPods (ermm....and Pokemon)

its a pain in the ass playing zelda with it but for pokemon or other rpgs its great

I wouldn't recommend iPodLinux. It may depend on what you do, but my friend's 4G iPod's HDD started barking at him after a while of playing Doom. It may be only if you use HDD-intensive stuff, becuase under normal use, the HDD barely spins at all (just real quick to load songs into RAM).

BTW, my friend zeroed out the HDD, reformated it and exchanged it at the apple store for a new one. What a weasel.

Wrote zeros to every bit on the drive. It helps cover things up, since regular formatting just gets rid of the file allocation tables without removing the file's contents.

2 things:
1. iodlinux.org doesn't exist i would check my spelling if I were you
2. What the hell I was following the video version of arab_freak's tutorial and when I download the file and unzip it I have different files then in the video and tutorial and some of the file names are different also when i copy and paste aefdisk.exe not aefdisk32.exe but then i can't rename it to aes.exe it tells me that the file is already in use so can anyone help me please.

CF cards have very limited read/write cycles too.

I know, but I think the main problem with the hard drives is taking shock while on which ipod linux causes them to do a lot more often, and the CF card can take all the shock you can give it (well, almost).

apple doesnt give a crap i busted mine by messing up changing the graphics and they axchanged my ipod and were totally cool with it
