DS Flashcarts... What to buy... EDIT: I made a decision!

Post by Super Cameraman »

Well, I got an M3 flash card from Kyosho, and it was working fine, but now it won't work at all, so I was thinking about buying one that actually fits in the DS lite. Without sticking out. I have a few options, but I don't know what to get. Here's some of the ones I'm thinking about.

SuperCard Lite
It looks very nice, and got some pretty good reviews, but I don't have a MicroSD card... I could buy one, but I don't have a lot of money to spend.

G6 Lite
This one has no card, and the memory is built in, but it's expensive, and it's only 512mb. (Compared to the 256mb SD card I have now, that's actually not bad)

I don't know many other ones, but I'm sure someone here does. What are you guys' suggestion? The M3 really got me hooked on DS homebrew, so even if someone knows how to resurrect one, PLEASE tell me!

-Super

EDIT:

The EZ-Flash 4 LITE also looks pretty good.... And it's dirt cheap. If no one responds, that's what I'm buying! It even comes with an SD card reader!!

I have a supercard lite rumble and a 1 gig micro sd if you want to buy or trade for it.

Oohh, trade what? I have a semiworking PocketPC, all the parts to a TI-85 ( I think) graphing calculator. When you say "it" do you mean bother the supercard AND the SD card? Is there anything you are looking to trade for?

the good old r4ds has a good bang/buck ratio. usually they're under $50 shipped and they play unpatched roms with nearly 100% compatibility.

it's topslot-only and takes microsd.

I'm not really sure why you'd be looking at outdated 2-slot solutions when the current generation of single-slots are faster/better/cheaper.

Are they really cheaper? I don't know why I want slot 2... I just feel like it. What's so much better about slot 1? It's not like I'm using slot 2 for anything else! I don't have any GBA games! And flashcarts play GBA roms anyway! Not that I would want to.

EDIT: Well, I don't think the deal with ShockSlayer is going to work out, SO any other suggestions?

well if you're buying a passthrough at the same time, yes, 1-slots work out a bit cheaper. if you're flashed, then maybe they don't. also there is no need to patch which some (all?) of the bottom slots have.

here's a link to what I decided on.
naturally they will also boot through to any kind of bottom slot storage as well. I may go for added storage down there later.

Slot 2 flashcarts require a Passcard or flashing the DS. I have a Passcard already, so that isn't a problem.

So it looks like I'm getting a SuperCard DS lite Rumble from ShockSlayer. He just needs to fix it since the ribbon cable broke or something... Anything I should know about the SuperCard? Is it really good? It says 100% DS rom compatable? Is that really true? And I heard the Rumble has less ram then the non-rumble. Is that a problem? I think GBA roms also dont work on it, but that's okay, I hate GBA games anyway.

No gba games, and having no ram is not a problem for official nintendo backups, but it is for some apps. Not moonshell though!

Oh, Moonshell works? Good. Is it the same thing that comes with the M3's? I think it is.... right?
