Any Modder Interested?

Yes, I want to play the best games on Nes, but I don't care to much for compatibility with anything except USA Roms.

For a portable that could play most of the USA Roms, either using a usb mod type thingy or the NOAC---but has to be able to store a lot of roms or have the ability to transfer roms to it--I would be willing to pay around 500 or more considering a few things: The look, the labor, the storage capacity for roms, and shipping of course.

It may sound like im picky or whatnot, but I just want something that looks good and can play most of the USA Roms.

You need support for many mappers if you want it to be compatable with NES ROMs. As far as I know mappers don't have much to do with regions and countries, but rather ROM size.

yeah i dont understand why a gp2x wont do because its not like he just wants the official hardware used or anything. if a noac will do for you why not a gp2x?

If you want to play ROM dumps, get a Gameboy Micro and a flash cart! Fits straight in your pocket.

needless to say I'm not entirely pleased with my gp2x

I have been debating looking for one with a broken screen to try and construct a simple projectbox 'first computer' for a nephew's birthday present. above that I really don't like mine much. 'hate' may be a more correct term.

as a tiny computer for simple media and gaming, it'd be pretty hot (with a joyport and usb's for whatever he throws on when he's old enough)

Ok, the GP2X does look cool and for the most part it would be acceptable for everything I need. But what I was looking for specifically was a portable Nes that has the ability to play USA Roms.

I'm not technical or anything so I don't know what would be easy, hard, or possible/impossible. That's why I was asking this in this forum.

I'm sure the GP2X can do all that stuff pretty good, but wouldn't it be better to build a product that does one thing extremely well. I think it would anyway.

As for the NOAC and stuff.....I am not really sure what that is or how it works...I just remember somone saying it could be modified to fit the rom idea. I would personally like to see a usb adapter type mod, but someone said that would be near impossible and very hard to make work.

you could just open up the game cart desolder the rom chip put the rest of the cart in the port then just take wires from where the rom chip was to a chip holder. and mount the chip holder on the out side of the case then just insert the rom chip from what ever game that you want to play in to the chip holder. and thhats my idea.

Not every romchip has the same pinout

. You could also just like cut the carts till the pcb. Lot's of room in there.

To show another option, the PSP can emulate anything the GP2x can, and even a bit more, but the GP2x is better for PC-like applications. I'm not starting a war on which is best, just telling you your options. Don't ask which is better here, it turns into a flame war. Its up to you, theres plenty of information to help you here if you search.
