PIC burning

In one of my more recent adventures, I found myself splat-bang in the middle of needing to use PICs. Now i am a mac user but in my understanding there are not any usb PIC burners around?

So I (my my assumptions are correct) am going tohave to use a windows computer with serial ports. Now the owner of this PC probably wouldn't let me hoock one of my own homemade PIC burners up to it, as it is his favorite gaming computer.

What is the best (and cheapest) PIC burner I can get in Australia under say $50?

A usb one would be nice though. If they make em.

Well, plenty of USB programmers around, try a Willem's programmer, not sure if there's mac software though.

Could you use a serial burner on someone else's less important PC?

@gannon: If there is no mac software, I can handle it. Were can I find plans / info for it?

@vskid: All windows computers aren't important, I just need to find one less than most that I can use regualy. Thats all.

i built that programmer myself and it works like a charm. built it right into my board. i used 1k resistors and it seems to still be fine.

I do it using an ancient IBM Thinkpad laptop.

Since my normal laptop doesn't have a Parallel port.

I actualy have several of these old Thinkpads.
