making a portable a bit more portable

so last sunday while i was at the market i saw an old 1983 epoch lcd game called "fights of the titan" i thought it was pretty cool so i bought it for a euro. it takes 4 C batterys and eats them pretty quickly. so i was opening it up to clean it and just check out the insides and was like crap this is pretty small i could make this a bit more portable by making a smaller fliptop case like a sp, replacing the joystick with a dpad, adding in a headphone jack, giving it a rechargeable battery and doing some other stuff. so before i started to muck about with it i went on to ebay to make sure i wouldnt be destroying something thats valuable
Ebay i realise this is mint but still
damn

so now this sunday im going back to the market to see what else i can find. i think it would be really cool if i did it right and pretty cheep to make. any ideas?
