How To Fit Game Genie?

Is this the right place for me, to ask this question?
Will Game Genie work with the regular Nintendo made in 1990? (The Super Mario Bros. 3 edition?) I have two regular Nintendo Entertainment Systems, but I cannot get Game Genie to fit in both systems. I have one made in 1990, that looks like the one made in 1987. I also have a top loading Nintendo Entertainment System that was made in 1993. The Game Genie won't fit in both system's that I have. Do I need to have the regular Nintendo Entertainment System that was made in 1987 (The Super Mario Bros. edition) or the Nintendo Entertainment System made in 1987 (The Duck Hunt/Gyromite edition), to be able to use the Game Genie?
Can you please tell me, which Nintendo Entertainment Systems will be compatible with Game Genie?

1987 regular Nintnedo Entertainment System: ???????????????
1990 regular Nintendo Entertainment System: ???????????????
1993 regular Top Loading Nintendo Entertainment System: ???

I am not talking about the Super Nintendo (Super Mario World edition).
Please help, I want to get my Game Genie to work.

Wait, it doesn't physically fit inside the cart slot hole? Or the pins don't go into the cart slot connector?

I know this is a couple weeks old but I thought you put the game genie in the expansion slot? I have an old game genie it is the width of a cart but have as tall with a long strap, haven't used it in a couple years though!!!

No, the Game Genie attaches onto the catridge and that goes into the NES.

that sounds like a import adapter.
