7805 on a Genesis model 1

Ok I noticed there are 2 7805 voltage Regulators on a Genesis 1 system, is there a way I can Remove 1 and only have 1 on the console, and rewire the traces to the Removed 7805 to the other 7805?

Cuz I just want to take out the 7805 without having to buy any from Digikey or Radio shack or any place like that.

It depends if one can handle the doubled current. I know my PSOne screen can. One of mine failed and I'm currently just using one, with the two outputs connected. I'm also running my SNES off of it, and all it needs is a piece of cardboard to sperate it from the batteries. The screen handles it just fine.

A genesis, however, is a bit older. Maybe you should ask one of the members for a spare one off a newer system if you don't trust yours.

Well I just figure out how to bypass the Corperate Email crap for Fairchild, and I just order 20 7805s, half of em are a slightly different model number but has the same specs and same amout of pins.

I only see one 7805 on the Genesis board, the one with the big heatsink.

Well mine has 2, because they are both attached to the Heat sink.

Will the Power Regulator Fry if it gets too hot? or will it just shut down?
You must be looking at a Genesis model 2, and that doesnt have a very big Heat sink.

Nope, its a Genesis 1, its wide and has the headphone jack and volume. I think they had several mini revisions between versions, maybe adding or subtracting a 7805 was one of those changes.
