Mine will run from 12 volts all the way down under 6, I can't vouch for the sound because I wasn't using it on voltage that low, but at 12 volts it sounded fine.figmentfilm wrote:Flippin sweet. I actually got a small one in about a week ago. I gotta try it out. A similar one I had would only go down to 9v... but I'm hoping to get it low.
I don't know why, but the HV unit has 5 volts, 16 volts and -12 volts coming out of it and going into the Video board.
If you were to run it off of a 5 volt source, maybe LEDs could replace the backlight, but I am unsure why -12 and 16 volts.
And running of my charging battery pack at 9 volts I get a 480mAh draw (not very accurate because I was on the 10 amp scale, but close enough for a ballpark), so I expect to be able to power it fairly easily, if the HV supply can be cut entirely who knows how much this will draw?
I guess the next step is to measure what the draw is on the 5v, -12v and 16v lines, who knows the 16v or -12v might be originating on the Video board or just be superflous once the HV supply is removed.
