Help a noob.

Ok I am new to case modding, and I was wondering.

What tools should I use for modifying the case of a DS, I was planning on takeing the top screen plastic case and fitting a MP3 player into the side without the WI-FI antena (a Zen nano plus mp3 player) and wire the head phones to the DS head phone jack and DS speakers (with a switch to switch between the 2) and run the mp3 off the DS battery.

nintendo screw driver, thin screw driver for lifting off plastic, and if youplan on cutting things, a dremel.

I am not one to discourage ambition, but do realize that this is a HARD first casemod. Great idea though. Just try not to fry your DS.

as long as I dont bridge the positive and negetive lines im fine, just need to figure out what type of resistor I need to put the 3.7v down to 1.5v which is what my mp3 player runs on, and I am assuming I only have to worry bout the positive line? or do I?

You only have to worry about the positive lines. As for the resistor I'm pretty sure you need to know how much mA your mp3 player needs to run to calculate the resistor value.

Are you casemodding (trying to improve the LOOK as well as the features of the DS) or are you just modding (just adding stuff)?

As a mod, this is very viable...as a casemod - difficult.

Meh I guess this wouldnt be the right place for this now would it lol.

I mainliy got into what tools I should use, then I got involved in what I was accually doing.

No besides the Mod, its just some simple (Or a I assume simple) cutting. How much are dremal tools and such? Hell I may have one down in my dad's workshop and not know it.

Sorry to break your bubble, but if you want the casemod to look good, it will be A LOT harder than a "few cuts". But if you don't care about how it looks - yes this could be pretty easy.

Yeah Im gonna try and make it look good, and Im not afraid of a Little sanding, measuering and a little work.

Well...

First rename this topic. The name has nothing to do w/ your project.

Second - You need a dremel, sandpaper, bondo (or spot putty), and hot glue.
Paint will finish the job.

Third - The casemod comes AFTER your other mods, because it needs to fit around them. So finish your mods first.
