A message to G-FORCE

Post by Rellizate »

Hey, since you are never online on AIM when I am, I thought i'll talk to you via the forum.
On your PlayMad, you used ps1 buttons for the volume and brightness. But I want to know how you did that. The volume + and volume - buttons are 1.5 cm away from each other, and each ps1 button needs a 1.3cm drill to fit the button in there. That means if you drilled two holes for the buttons directly above the tacts, your holes would merge together to get a weird effect - understand?

So, how did you do it? Did you relocate the tacts or something?

Yes definatly. Because the tact swithces are 2.5 cm apart, and you need at least a 1.3cm hole per button.

Only 0.65cm radius, 1.2cm between the buttons. You could have the edges of the buttons hit the tacts too, that would spread them further.

ha, no, I hardly ever get any PM's. My box is lonely. :(

I didn't use the tact buttons on the screen, since they felt really cheesy, so I'm not sure on the measurements. I sanded down, and then glued the X, square, O, triangle, buttons onto larger tact switches, then I wired those to the screen. Then I just hot glued those into the holes. I suppose I could have gotten more imaginative with the placement of the buttons, but I didn't see any reason to change it.

And whats with all this "cm" nonsense! English measurements all the way! :P

1cm!

Anyway, thanks a lot. So you relocated. Did you just rewire all 4 pins on the tacts, or only 2 diagonals or what?

Yes, he told me over msn that that was where his tacts connected. Mine are different though...
