Just thought I'd post this here in case you're interested. I added a 9-pin joystick port to a 360 controller:

Pretty simple really, it's great to use those old joysticks from the 8-bit days with Live Arcade.

That's pretty sweet man, good work. Only issue I see is that it makes playing games like Gears of War impossible. Perhaps you or someone else could find another spot to put it, or perhaps use a dongle.
Looks good though!

Thanks, and why would Gears be impossible- with the joystick plugged in you can change directions and dive for cover with your feet!Black Six wrote:That's pretty sweet man, good work. I figured there was no point keeping the d-pad, as it wouldn't really be usable with all of those solder points and wires around. I was going to stick the whole GameStop controller in a box at first, then I realised that doing it this way I'd still have the 'Xbox' button, 'Start' button, headset port, etc. This controller is now dedicated to being a joystick interface- it's a cheap controller anyway that doesn't feel as good as a Microsoft one for most games.
If you plug in a Hori Arcade Controller you can't play many non-Arcade games too well either, as it has no analog sticks and the triggers are digital.
Yes, not sure how I thought "change weapons" and typed "change directions".jeroen wrote:It's been a while. Don't you change weapons with that? (I have it but i'm to lazy to check)
I don't think that a joystick would be practical for this, but it would be cool to have a way of changing weapons without releasing the analog sticks. Maybe I can connect a DDR pad to the controller next time...
