I like to deal in facts and probabilities.

Aliens may have visited Earth, but the probabilities are incredibly small. The chances of a relatively silent aircraft going off course are significantly better than the chances of aliens reaching Earth.

While the universe is not infinite (nor does it feature an "edge") it is very large. The probability of alien life developing somewhere are incredibly high.

Despite all that, I'd sure like for aliens to visit us. It would be a very exciting, world changing event.

I think the WorldWar series by Harry Turtledove gives the theme a cool twist. Alien scouts visit us in the 1600's, then they return enmasse just in time for World War II. They're technology is about on par with ours today, and they did not anticipate humanity's rapid technological progression (the history of their civilization is hundreds of thousands of years long, with little change). They only succeed in taking about half the planet before the United States, the USSR, and the Third Reich, and other allies are able to stall them, after which the aliens have little choice but to coexist with humans. Both sides are continuously plotting to overrun the opposite.

Great stuff.

If there was life that could reach us, it'd be known about by now. Why keep it hidden? Unless they are expecting a large sum of money from the major world leaders.

Aliens exist. But nowhere near us.

It is not so much That I think these theories are posperstorus, rather, highly improbable, we need to consider the possibilities as a conbimned group of humanity, not as little squabbles over who stole whose holy land, or who needs to give the other oil rights

I believe space travel would be a wonderful thing for humansto consider and Aliens, be it fictictous or fact, could be a motivating factor, however, I Think the people of the world have a lot of maturing to do before that could ever happen with the cooperation that it would need.

Another thing that bothers me about this is the people who are blatenly Idiotic,
Once there was a crop circle contest held in England, a group of people had to assemble a team, finish in one night under the cover of darkness and had to have not ben spotted, there was a million dollar prize and many newspapers advertised the event, However, UFO junkies were always there taking ecto-samples and claiming to have been visited, for goodness sake people get a life...

(more than 2 cents but who cares?)

Look at this planet...

millions of species under one roof.

Different organisms living in different ecosystems.

Fish live in water, germs live in everything, worms live in the soil.. Even if we don't find anything remotely like us, you can bet that there are things that live in water, germs and bacteria and other things.

Hmm... I'm just gonna copy and paste my post from the LAST UFO topic I posted in here. :P
I wrote: I don't really know what to think. I've never seen a ghost or a UFO, but my mother and stepfather have BOTH seen a UFO at a certain point in their lives. When my stepfather was in the Navy, he was looking up in the sky (for one reason or another), and he saw what looked like it could be a shooting star. But as it flew at a relatively fast speed across the sky, it all of a sudden made a sharp 90 degree angle turn and instantly flew off in a different direction.

I don't remember this story very well, I suppose I could ask my mother to tell me again, but she's in bed right now, so I'll do my best. In 1980-something, my mother and her family were driving home from some concert late at night, when they all saw a huge tube-like floating object in the sky with two red lights on both ends. It was flying very slowly, and was making a low humming sound. After they gazed at it for a while, it all of a sudden disappeared into the night... This was in Farewell, Michigan. When they got home, they called everyone they knew in the area and many of them saw it as well. My mother told me this story several years ago. About a year or so after she told me, I was watching one of those voiced-over educational CD things (You know, with the pictures 'n stuff?) on the computer about space. (It was part of my home-schooling.) On the CD labeled "Space Speculation," there was a chapter about UFOs, which included several pictures and drawings of different "sightings." I flipped out when I saw exactly what my mother described to me on that CD... Apparently that same UFO also traveled through Wisconsin. Someone took a picture of the area where it was seen, and drew in what the UFO looked like. I dug out the CD and copied the text and picture from that part of the CD to show you guys. This is the picture, with the caption underneath it.
That Space CD thingy wrote: Image
In the mid-1980s, several police officers saw something in the sky near Belleville, Wisconsin. Although radar tracked the object, no one has been able to explain what it was. This picture was taken near Belleville, and the UFO has been added by an artist to give an idea of what people saw.
Here's what I know. One, too many honest people saw it to be lying about it and two, by definition it had to be a UFO, at least to the general public. For all we know, it could have been a government test or something. Hey, a lot of what we think are "UFO" sightings could be government tests gone bad. But whatever it was, it was there in plain sight...
Anyone have any thoughts about this? I'd like to know what you guys think about this particular case...
