Dreamcast not reading Disc

Post by Airdog »

Here is the problem, first off, I put the disc in and it goes to the menu, no matter what (I have auto start turned on) and when I go to "Play" it says "Please Insert game Disc", like I don't have a disc in there at all. It never goes to the game at all.

the DC seems to make a noise like it's trying to load but fails, and tries again, but fails...

The system used to work... I've tried the reset fix, and I've tried cleaning the lid latch, and I've also tried cleaning the laser with a Q-Tip and filtered water

any help would be great, thanks a lot

First off, nice to meet you. Second, you say the thing is making a noise? I had a freind who had the same issue, I openned his system and pushed a little on the ribbon cable right where it hits the laser assembly, and it worked after that.

ya, I took it apart yesterday, and it totally popped out, so I put it back in, but it still seems to load funny... I actually got the game to load, but sometimes when it's loading during the game, all of the sudden I hear the system make a noise, hard to explain the noise... but it stop running, (it's like I can hear the system running and all of the sudden it just goes "bloooooooop", like the sound is going downward) and then it goes to the menu and proceeds to load the disc again, and when it tries to load again, it takes like 5 or 6 times before the game loads (the loading disc, please wait sign goes so fast it seems to almost flicker)

I posted this on another forum and they said I had to re caliber the laser, so I went in and looked, and it was broke off... so anyway I can just buy the board it fell off of?
