I know this may not be the best place to ask, but does anyone have the specs for the power switch used in the Sony PSP? I've seen a couple of pictures, but it doesn't say if it is a dpdt or spdt or anything like that. I just bought a psp with a broken power switch and it is going to be getting a U.P. modchip along with a few other things and I don't mind making it into a franken-psp with an external power switch and stuff.
Anyway..(back to the issue at hand)...does anyone know?

There's a hold position where the switch is pushed all the way down. There's a normal position where the switch is in the middle position. And then there's the up position which is momentary and used to turn the psp on and off. I can't hot link the picture, but here's a link to a site that sells them

I'm guessing that one side (two of the leads) are used for the on/off functionality through the momentary function of the switch. The other two leads are used for the hold functionality. I won't need the hold function, so I could probably get away with just a momentary on switch soldered to the corresponding points on the power board. Does that sound about right?

Maybe you could mutate other switches to make it work, if you don't care how it looks. Or fix the broken one.
Oh, just saw that you don't care, maybe a SPDT would work, one side to hold, the other for power and leave it in the middle the rest of the time ,if possible. If not, 2 SPST, one for power and one for hold should work.
That's what I was thinking. It appears that the on/off part of the switch is just jumping the top two poles while the hold side jumps the lower two poles. If it works the way I think it does, then you could do that.
