Ok so what should I get? DS X or gpx2?

Post by Dr. KillGood »

I cant decide to get a DS Extreme or a GPX2. Here is a list of pros/cons I came up with.

DS Extreme.
Pros
-Mabe play N64 games
-Play NES/SNES emulators
-Listen to music
-Play some homebrew games

Cons
-Tiny flash cart, I will probably lose it eventually.
-Someone might steal my DS lite with it in it.

GPX2
-Play music
-Play emulators
-Play loads of homebrew games that are free.
-Play Quake/Doom 1&2 on the go! :D
-I will be the only one with one at school

Cons
-Nobody else has one at school
-Might get stolen.
-If it breaks I don't think there is a warranty?

My final verdict, undecided. I cant make up my mind if I get a GPX2 I will be trading in my DS lite. If I keep the DS lite I wont have many homebrew games to play and might lose the the DSX thing easily.

Please give me you're opinions.

Stick with the DS, you won't make enough money to get a GP2X, unless on ebay or another site.

Is it really? It seems like it would be impossible, since its hard enough emulating on something faster, and the DS's 2 processors add to be about the same speed as the N64's.

Pfft....just get a PSP

Nah, I'd go with a GP2X. But the PSP has amazing homebrew and emulators.

You can't call it a con for theft of both. Anybody will steal anything they can get money for.

My personal recommendation is GP2X if your more intrested in emulation & homebrew.

If you must choose between the two, and you already have a DS, I'd get the DS X. Doom has been available for DS for a while, and Quake was recently ported as well. N64 emulation isn't forthcoming, but you can always download DS ports of N64 games.

If you're used to the high build quality of the DS, along with its long battery life and convenience of use, you probably won't enjoy the GP2X.
