So what if Sony sucks, Micro$oft sucks, but the Xbox and 360 are good. PSP can run PS1 at full speed and has limited N64 support. It also is more battery friendly, and you can charge and play, you don't have to swap batteries to charge them.Jongamer wrote:just get a GP2x, Sony blows anyway (IMO) plus its about 30 bucks cheaper, and can run most Emulators below PS1 at full speed.
To everyone his own, though.

PSP eats its battery in about 3-8hrs, GP2X lasts, what, about 4-6hrs? The PSP's battery and charger come with it. If we were talking about stuff you can make or buy separately, they're about the same, because you can buy(?) or make a PSP charger that uses 4 rechargeable AAs.Triton wrote:proof? you can get power adapters for the gp2x, they just dont come packed in i dont think. But like I said, to everyone his own.

I already laid out a big shpeel about the PSP vs GP2X debate.
LAst I checked, the 2X was $189, plus shipping. The PSP is 199 in stores. The price difference is negligible...
except that you cannot "just use" a GP2X out of the box. You'll need rechargable AA's- really good ones if you want similar battery life to a PSP. That adds cost.
Even then, charging a PSP is incredibly simple: plug it in. You can still play as it is charging. It'll run through the day without trouble before needing a charge. You must remove the GP2X batteries to charge them, and you cannot use the GP2X while doing so- unless you have either a second pair of AA's or an AC/DC adapter- sold seperately. That adds more cost.
The PSP is a more capable emulating machine than the GP2X. The GP2X will someday achieve average PS1 performance. The PSP has fullspeed PS1 emulation, and will also offer average N64 performance. [By the way, the R9 release of Deadalus N64 emulator is soon to be released- a speed boost AND audio support! Woot!] Of course you also get commercial titles with near-ps2 graphics.
I am no expert on homebrew, but the PSP has a number of big hit titles, like CSPSP (2D counterstrike with a map editor and a cult following), a number of 3D racing game experiments, and a super-cool 3D remake of the first Super Mario Bros. level
Plus you get your standard Doom, Hexen, and Quake interpretors, along with your tetris knockoffs.
It is time to face the facts. The GP2X costs more and does less. It is fine to have an emotional attachment to an inferior product, so long as you do not fool yourself into believing it is better than it is!
My only gripe with the PSP is an hour or two of intense anxiety when you first get it ready for homebrew. To make matters worse I had a TA-082 motherboard, so I had to follow more complex steps. Now I have 3.03 OE-C, and sailing is smooth.
The Oblivion for PSP isn't going to feature the same wide open gameplay as the PC and 360 versions. I think it is going to be more of a dungeon crawler.

I like the GP2X because I can always have batteries for it, and there cheap ( the best you need is a set of 4 batteries for 5 dollars ). I can have a lot of memory for it for cheap ( I have 4 gigs of SD for 50 bucks ). Its so easy to do homebrew on ( just put it on the sd ). It has Beat2x ( and NOTHING can beat beat2x )

The most kick ass DDR clone in the world. It's so fun, I played it for about 5 hours straight.ganonbanned wrote:whats beat2x?gamemasterAS wrote:I like the GP2X because I can always have batteries for it, and there cheap ( the best you need is a set of 4 batteries for 5 dollars ).
