Magnetic Money Clip in a Wallet?

Long story short, I got a wallet with a money clip, but I don't fancy that clip too much. I have some neodymium magnets and pieces of metal, and they work well as a clip (not too strong or anything). However, magnets mess up credit cards and the likes.

Is this something to worry about? How could I test if the magnetic field is reaching the cards with enough strength to harm them?

I know magnetic clips in wallets exist.

I can say from experience they can mess up cards with magnetic strips when they are loose in a pocket together, I was at a convention once and they gave you attendee badges with magnetic clips, my dad put his badge in his pocket with the hotel room key-cards, and neither of them would work.

Now, this might not apply here though, since the hotel key-cards seemed to be written at the front desk from blanks with a little writer, company issued cards might be made differently.

Actually, Mythbusters proved that you could wipe cards with magnets..

The myth was about eel skin wallets wiping credit cards though, which was busted. Magnets themselves do wipe credit cards.

yea they proved that you would have to have some really fecking strong magnets to accidentally wipe a credit card or the like,so unless this money clip is using like 1" neodemium magnets to hold itsself together i doubt you have much to worry about

Well they only tested under quick exposure.. Low powered magnets, still pose a threat, but not as much as a high powered magnet.

Actually they tested the clip thingies. They let them rest on there for a day. Non of the cards were damaged. (and they even wrote them themselfs)
