PS2's Optical Out Port

Hey guys just a quick question. the optical out on the back of the ps2(glows red when ps2 is on) if i desoldered that off the board would it affect the ps2, im thinking that it wont do a thing but i just want to make sure. Cheers^_^

Not likely, as I've never worked with a ps2. But I DO know that if its like an av out or controller port, its just contacts.

if you do it very carefully it shouldn't break your ps2.

however, taking your ps2 apart in the first place is almost like asking it to break (in my experience)

It would work. I don't see why you'd remove it but you could if you wanted to. (It's for audio out. None of my 80s stereo hardware accepts it, but big, new, expensive stuff does.)

Ive worked with Ps2 for 4 years now and only had one break that was a version 3 after i moded it and it didnt work so i picked it up and hurled it at the wall. lol then i found out i just blew a fuse lol. anyway thanx again Cheers.
